Owen had a check up today and the results are so far so good. He has been on the feeding tube since the surgery and is so ready for a "bite". Today he was given the approval for soft food. Melissa said when they got home she got out the yogurt and a spoon and Owen went crazy. He was so excited and happy to eat something.
The plan will be to stay on the soft foods and feeding tube for another couple of weeks. We can work him off the tube once he is able to eat enough to keep the calories up. Right now we have to start very slow and work him up on the amount of food he can eat via the mouth. Doctor said the worst possible thing that could happen now is if he vomits. So hopefully the food intake will go well and he does not get sick.
Iris also had a check up today regarding her hearing and she is doing great!
This is our story for bringing our beautiful daughter home from China. We hope you enjoy the journey with us and share in our love for this awesome child God is placing in our family. The story continues as now we are adding a sweet little boy to our family as well. Now the story continues (again) with our next adoption. Not sure of who God will place in our family but we are moving forward and know He has already decided and we will soon find out.

Owen given the green light to eat.....THE BEST news I've heard all week! Nick said it killed him, on Sunday, to eat in front of him. I have prayed for strength for you all to get through this. I praise our great God for healing Owen. I was telling some co-workers about Owen, which led to me telling them about your family. All of them said, Joel and Melissa must be special people.....I said, they certainly are.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! He gets some good! Such good news!
ReplyDeleteYEAH for Owen and Iris too! I am so glad to hear that things are going so well! I have been thinking and praying for you guys! Things have been busy here adjusting to the new school schedule. Still waiting for our LOA. 9/16 will mark five months of waiting for our LOA!
