The Red Thread

Once our eyes have been opened we can't pretend that
we don't know what to do; for God who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls
knows that we know and holds us responsible to act. Proverbs

Haning Out With Iris

Today we have been taking it easy and just hung around the hotel.  This afternoon we are going to the park with the Pierce family.  Hopefully little Ben and Iris will play together.  We ventured down to the corner Chinese restaurant for lunch.  They speak little or no English so that was fun.  We pointed to some noodles on the menu and it was fine.  We sat outside on the patio and lots of people walking by looked curiously at us.  One lady stopped and just watch us for a while.  Another man stopped and took our picture.

We skyped to the kids and it was great to see them and speak to them.  They seem to be doing fine.  We can not wait to get home and hug them.  We are also excited to get Iris home and meet her brother and sister.

Joy (Melissa's mother) told us the basement is drying out and our wonderful family has already made arrangements to put down new pad and re-install the carpet next week.  Joy said the carpet is almost dry but they continue to keep the carpet elevated with fans and a de-humidifier.  Hopefully that will be the extent of the damage.

Last night we ate at the hotel for the international buffet.  Iris was not having a good dinner as we had to wake her up to go eat.  So Melissa ate quickly and took her back to the room.  I stayed and tried some "wild" food.  I found a few things I like but also found a few that were not so good.

Melissa was a little emotional as she felt like Iris may have been realizing that Mr. Yang would not be coming back to get her.  For Melissa it was stressful not to be able to communicate with and comfort Iris in this time.   I think she did just fine and Iris was being comforted.  After her bath Iris was back to her happy self and the stress had passed.

We are more than ready to leave Wuhan and head south.  I think these pictures are awesome.

  1. Iris is just beautiful! Love her cute little dimples. You and Melissa are truly amazing. You have handled the trials and tribulations of adoption with grace. I know there isn't anything you can't handle. Iris is lucky to have you and I am sure she feels the love and admiration you both have for her. Many blessings to you all!
