The Red Thread

Once our eyes have been opened we can't pretend that
we don't know what to do; for God who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls
knows that we know and holds us responsible to act. Proverbs

Gotcha Day - Two Years Ago Today

Two years ago today Melissa and I saw Iris for the first time.  It was an incredible Gotcha Day and we have enjoyed every minute with her.  Iris has brought our family so much love and faith.  She has trusted us from the very first minute we saw her.  I can not imagine how empty our lives would seem if she had never joined us.

Tonight we celebrated by eating at China Star.  Melissa and I had planned on celebrating at a Mexican joint (because Iris loves chips & salsa) but Ansley talked Iris into a "fancy" Chinese buffet.  We all shared our favorite moments with Iris and she ate up the attention.

Iris - we love you so much and are so thankful that God placed you in our family.  God knew exactly what he was doing when he picked us to be your mommy and daddy.  You have taught us so much about love and parenting.  Your confidence, courage, and trust are amazing.  God has big plans for you and we are so blessed to be part of it.

Her eyes look so good!

We are so glad we were able to meet you in China and share this special adoption journey with you! Iris' eyes do look great! She is so beautiful! I am glad Owen is okay. It sounds like it was a very scary few days! I am just getting caught up on your blog since getting back from vacation! Parker sends hugs and kisses to his buddy Iris!

  3. My life has been so richly blessed by Iris. While I can't believe she has only been here two years, it feels like she has always been in our lives. I love the way she asks questions and follows the answer with an affirmative as if she is just confirming your answer. Makes me laugh every time. Nothing gets past her either. Her courage is contagious and her willingness to constantly step out of her comfort zone, is faith in action. She has already taught me many lessons on what faith in the Lord really looks like. Thank you, Jesus, for bringing Iris into ths world and into my life.
